Owen, Vernon Elias
Second Lieutenant Vernon E. Owen, 9th Royal Welsh Fusiliers, was the youngest son of the Rev. T. E. Owen, rector of Aberdaron, Carnavonshire, and formerly Minor Canon of Bangor Cathedral. Second Lieutenant Owen, who was 22 years of age, was educated at Friars School, and at the University College of North Wales. When the war broke out he enlisted but afterwards secured a commission. He was a notable athlete and often played football for his college and for the leading football clubs in North Wales. The Times 7/12/15
