Notes | Letter from his mother to King’s College dated 15 March 1947 Thank you for your letter re the death of our son, Sydney James. His rank was Sub Lieut., Fleet Air Arm and he met his end in a flying accident at Arbroath (Angus) on the 20th October 1941. In Sept. 1940 he joined the above, proceeded to Canada & qualified as an Air Pilot. We thank you for your letter of sympathy, it was indeed a great blow to us, & he had made such splendid progress whilst at King’s College. But he like many others gave their lives that we might live & we are indeed very grateful to them. |
