Barker, Aubrey Arthur
Old Colcestrian killed in action: News has been received that Lieut. Aubrey A. Barker, Somerset L.I. has been killed in action in North West Europe. He was 22 years of age, educated at Colchester Royal Grammar School and was an exceptionally clever linguist, gaining medals foe French and highest honours in Italian and Spanish. He also worked in connection with the Basque refugees. In 1941 he gained a scholarship and went to King’ s College, London. Lieut. Barker is the only son of Mrs H. A. Barker, High Chimnyes, King Harold Road, Colchester. Essex County Standard 20 Oct.1944
