Bernard-Onraët, Hugh

It is with very great regret that we record the untimely death of Lieut. H. Bernard-Onraë t, R.A.M.C., who was killed at the relief of Ladysmith on February 27th.

Educated at Cranleigh School, Bernard-Onraë t commenced his professional training at Guy’ s in April, 1892, and qualified M.R.C.S., L.R.C.P., 1898. He entered the Service in the following year, and after a probationary period at Netley, was ordered to South Africa.

His loss is greatly mourned by all who knew him at the hospital, where his genial personality and his keen sporting interest in athletics, more especially in the work of the Association Football Club, of which he was secretary, alike gained him many friendships. By his death, Guy’ s has lost a true son, and the Service a splendid officer. Guy’ s Hospital Gazette, March 17th 1900.

Where all have worked so well, it is difficult to discriminate, but the names of the following Officers have been specially brought to my notice: —
