Notes Ref: *4
- The role of Curator caused John a great deal of stress and he wrote several letters explaining how it was making him ill. He felt the job was impossible for one person alone. George Augustus Timme took over the post of Curator of George III museum temporarily from John Edward Cock, A long letter from the Principal to the Committee explains why this happened.
- During his time as Curator John was several times reprimanded by the Committee for claiming expenses for models that he had made. he justified it by saying that he was only charging for materials not his time so they were cheaper than if bought from an outside source. There were a couple of mentions in the Council minutes book to this effect.
