Photograph from the collection of Major Gen Sir Edward Louis Spears (1886-1974). Hollow road north of Carency and of the Souchez streams, 1915. 'In June this was a very unhealthy spot. Down the road is a bridge where Pierre Keller and I had a narrow escape from a '105 fusant'. There were at that time several dead Germans on the bridges one could not remove'
