Photographs from the collection of Major Gen Sir Edward Louis Spears (1886-1974). 11th May 1915. Mount Saint Eloi. Lieutenant Bach and 'self' by 270 mm Howitzer, the heaviest guns in the French army at the time. Photo taken during the third day of battle for Vichy Ridge. This battery fired at Leuvil and Thelus destroying both places.
