Commenced training at London Hospital March 17th 1886, day and nights on Queen, Blizard, Talbot, Mellish, Nursing Home, Currie, Rachel wards. A Private Case. Warded and absent from 22 Dec to 3 Jan 1887. Fever Hospital to completion of training. She passed a very satisfactory examination and received a certificate to the effect that her work was satisfactory and her conduct good.

Report:
A good worker, generally liked by those under whom she worked. She was noisy and bustling - not nurse like in character and yet with sufficient supervision she was able to get through her work well. She was not very strong but her health was sufficiently good on the whole to warrant my acceding to her request to be appointed Staff Nurse. My impression is that she may develop and improve with further experience.

The Nursing Register Page 86:
'Marianna (sic) deteriorated in work and character and disappointed any hopes formed of her possible improvement. She behaved in a very under-hand manner in connection with her desire to leave, adopted a rude tone towards the Sisters and whilst breaking her engagement and leaving at a few days notice was inconvenient, the actual loss of her services caused no regret. Resigned to go to South Africa and left on March 18th 1889.
