Kate was the daughter of the Reverend BN White Spunner of Miltown Park, Shinrone, Offaly, Eire. She had at least one sister Isabel, who was lodging with George and Kate Smith in Clapham in 1891. Kate married George Henry Smith, Gentleman in Lewisham, London in the first quarter of 1889. George was a civil engineer. In 1890 their first child, a daughter named Zoe was born, followed by Lawder Benjamin in 1892 and Eileen in 1894.Subsequently Lawder went to Bombay, India in 1921. George Smith died in 1924.
