King's College London Archives.This portrait of Lister by the Scottish genre and portrait painter John Henry Lorimer (1856-1936) was commissioned by King’s College Hospital and presented on 30 July 1895 by the surgeon Sir John Erichsen, to whom Lister had been an assistant at the start of his career. It was completed very quickly; Lister notes that he had a sitting on 17 July.

Copies now hang at Edinburgh and Glasgow Universities.
