Wheatstone's bequest to King's College
Extract from Wheatstone's willWhen Sir Charles Wheatstone died in 1875, he left his collection of books, scientific papers and instruments to King's College.
An extract from his will lists his inclusion of 'all my Scientific Books and Apparatus or such portions thereof as the professor of Experimental Philosophy for the time being shall thing proper to select.'
Wheatstone's donation to King's College of his personal library of books and pamphlets, extending to approximately 2000 items, are kept in the Foyle Special Collections library. A description of their Wheatstone Collection provides further information.
