Parachute troops
Use of parachute troops provided mixed success in World War Two.
Images of the new Parachute Regiment can be found in the archive collection of Major Francis Lennox-Boyd, which follows trainees preparing for the Allied invasion of mainland Europe through to deployment on 6 June 1944 – D-Day.
Lennox-Boyd was killed on that day in Normandy, leading 22 Independent Parachute Company.
