The event at King's, with more than 100 students attending, involved a series of sports-based lectures and interactive workshops to encourage 11-14 year old students to take their science studies further and consider a career in science.

Further events were planned for Loughborough, Liverpool John Moores, Exeter and Bedfordshire to be delivered by faculty staff, student ambassadors and GSK scientists.

In May 2012 'Scientists in Sports' took the gold medal in the Podium awards competition for projects inspired by the London Olympic and Paralympic Games, outdistancing more than 230 competing projects.
