Sport at King's

Lord Hambledon kicking offLord Hambledon kicking offSport has played a crucial part in the life of King's College since it was established in 1829, and in the social life of other institutions that have since merged with the College including Guy's Hospital Medical School and Chelsea and Queen Elizabeth Colleges.

Sport has helped foster a sense of corporate loyalty and identity as well as improving students' fitness between examinations and lectures.

All the major sports have been played here but King's and its related institutions have been particularly strong in rugby, rowing and athletics, supplying numerous international competitors and participating in Olympic Games and other important competitions.

What follows is a brief celebration of these achievements.
