DNA spiral
Rough sketches of DNA spiral by Maurice Wilkins (c. 1950-1952)Notes by Maurice Wilkins, biophysicist, c.1950-1952.
In 1951 Wilkins (1916-2004) was working on the structure of DNA, together with Rosalind Franklin, Raymond Gosling and Herbert Wilson.
These notes show him using rough sketches, attempting to work out the angle at which spiral DNA might ascend.
The papers of Professor Maurice Wilkins (1916-2004) who in 1962 was awarded the Nobel Prize for Medicine jointly with James Watson and Francis Crick are held in King's College Archives.
