This notebook belonged to a Mr Thomas Callaway, a Steward of Guy’s Hospital.
The Steward’s role included admission of patients and taking their fees as well as caring for the physical fabric of the building.
The notebook contains cost of building supplies and construction work and rough sketches of building plans, including this copy of a bracket intended for a staircase.
