His mother by John Carter, architect"Occurrences in the Life, and Memorandums relating to the Professional Persuits of J. C., F.A.S Architect” by John Carter (1748 – 1817), draughtsman and architect.
Carter illustrates his autobiography throughout with sketches of the people and buildings he has encountered during architectural tours.
Here he describes a painting of his father, a sculptor, and copies his father’s figure.
Below the image he notes: “I regret much I have no corresponding likeness of my mother, I shall however give the face which I took unknown to her” and includes a portrait of her asleep.
