Episode 5 — PICTURES AT AN EXHIBITION
Introduction by Anda Anastasescu
English composer Michael Berkeley, Lord Berkeley of Knighton CBE, outlines a rare quality in Silvestri’s music which made a strong impression on him. I perform excerpts from his Piano Suite No. 3, written when he was 20 - an exceptional work, unique in its individuality and expressionism. In an informal interview by Nicolas Gaster, I explain how I ‘discovered’ Silvestri-the-composer and what made me give 30 years of my life to revive his memory.
