Born in 1909; served as engineer on HMS DORSETSHIRE, 1932, HMS RESOLUTION, 1933, HMS VICTORY, 1936, HMS CUMBERLAND, 1936, HMS DRAKE, 1939, HMS PEMBROKE, 1939, HMS UGANDA, 1941, HMS ARIADNE, 1944, HMS TYNE, 1946, HMS BERRYHEAD, 1947, HMS HOWE, 1949, and HMS ORION, 1950; died in 1983.

Presented to the Centre by the family in 1983.

Papers relating to his naval service, 1927-1951, dated 1927-[1951], notably including a brief summary of his career, 1932-1951, dated [1951]. Notebook of F M Palmer (Palmer's father), containing notes relating to his work in the Naval Store Department, HM Dockyard, Devonport, [1898-1900].
