[NOTE: 'Notes on my life' is a typescript copy of Brooke's draft autobiography 'Notes for my memoirs', made by Marian C Long, research assistant to the Royal Regiment of Artillery and Sir Arthur Wynne Morgan Bryant, in 1954-[1956]. This autobiography is largely a transcript of his diaries, annotated with additional comments on the events and personalities mentioned therein. Volumes 1-11 and 20 can be found at ALANBROOKE 5/2/1-12, while the original diaries are in ALANBROOKE 5/1.]
