Administrative / Biographical history

Queen Elizabeth College, which came into being with the granting of a Royal Charter in 1953, succeeded the Home Science and Economics classes of King's College Women's Department and King's College for Women, which started in 1908; the Household and Social Science Department of King's College for Women, which opened in 1915; and King's College of Household and Social Science, which operated from 1928. The amalgamation of the College with King's College London and Chelsea College was completed in 1985.

Immediate source of acquisition or transfer

Records from Queen Elizabeth College were transferred to King's in 1985 from the QEC Library.

Queen Elizabeth College examination question papers, 1923-1985, constituting an incomplete series of bound BSc examination question papers, 1923, 1970-1985; MSc Nutrition question papers, 1969-1984; undergraduate and postgraduate Manpower Studies examination question papers, 1977-1985; a timetable for BSc exams, 1940.

Arranged into the main set of BSc papers (Ref: Q/EX1) and MSc, duplicate BSc and miscellaneous papers (Ref: Q/EX2, Q/EXAM, 1993/Q/EXAM).
