- Administrative / Biographical history
Joan Hobbs trained initially as a kindergarten teacher, and taught for a number of years, before training as a midwife and general nurse at King's College Hospital between 1934 and 1937, gaining General Nursing Council registration in 1937. She later trained as a Nurse Tutor, and was involved in establishment of King's College Hospital unit at Horton during World War Two. Hobbs held the post of Matron at Warwick Hospital before retiring to Worthing. She died on 21 Jul 2003, aged 95.
