- Administrative / Biographical history
Biochemistry formed part of the Department of Physiology, Biochemistry, Organic Chemistry and Histology in the Faculty of Medicine from 1925. This changed its name to the Department of Physiology, Biochemistry and Pharmacology in 1937. Biochemistry became a discrete department in 1958 and was incorporated into the Faculty of Basic Medical Sciences in King's College School of Medicine and Dentistry in 1983, the Faculty of Science in 1985, the Faculty of Life Sciences, 1986, and the School of Life, Basic Medical and Health Sciences in 1989. It now forms part of the Division of Life Sciences within the School of Health and Life Sciences.

- Scope and content
King's College London Biochemistry Department examination results, 1970-1983 (Ref: KDBCH/ER), student photographs, 1967-1988 (Ref: KDBCH/PH), correspondence and research reports, 1967-1987 (Ref: KDBCH/F). The examination results consist of unsigned photocopies of the computer-generated listings, giving course unit results for Biochemistry, and BSc examination results for all science course units. The photograph series includes single and joint honours students from disciplines related to Biochemistry, such as Medical Sciences, Pharmacology, Chemistry and Biology. The correspondence series contains the correspondence and research reports of PhD students.
- System of arrangement
The examination results are arranged alphabetically within session dates. Photographs are organised according to subject, within session dates. The correspondence series is arranged alphabetically within blocks of years.

- Conditions governing access
Subject to an eighty year closure period from date of leaving, but may be consulted by Division staff and other appropriate College staff with permission from the Head of Division.
- Conditions governing reproduction
Copies, subject to the condition of the original, can be supplied to Division staff. Requests to publish original material should be submitted to the Director of Archive Services, King's College London.
