General Information every weekday in term time and for some parts of the vacations The Centre closes in August Comprehensive medical services are available to all members of the College When students begin their courses at King's they should make their own arrangements with doctor in the area where they are living and with whom they should register under the National Health Service Students living in lodgings or Halls of Residence should register on temporary basis and those living at home should register permanently Students living in King's College Hall Champion Hill are registered with Dr Terry and all students living within three miles of Dr Terry's surgery in Dulwich may register with him This is to ensure adequate emergency coverage in the evenings and weekends Similarly students who commence treatment at the Centre must be able to obtain long- term advice from their own doctors Details of doctors in the National Health Service are available at Post Offices It is important that all students who feel that either counselling or treatment for physical illness is necessary should contact the Centre at the earliest possible opportunity Careers and Employment The Careers Advisory Service is situated on the third floor of the Macadam building and is open Monday to Friday including lunch- times wide range of facilities is available to students using the careers service The information room contains very comprehensive range of literature including reference books on the many types of careers available to graduates as well as individual files on over 500 graduate employers Two Careers Advisers are available to interview students at any stage of their undergraduate careers Interviews are scheduled to last one hour and there is no limit to the number of interviews person may have Past students may continue to use the careers service once they have left the College Much help is given to students with such things as completion of employers' application forms arranging for practice at being interviewed for employment and producing lists of vacancies The King's College Careers Service is part of the University of London Careers Advisory Service and through that connection students have access to the facilities provided by the Central Office at 50 Gordon Square London WC1H OPQ including large reference library vacation courses and large Graduate Recruitment Pro- gramme in the Spring Term
