COLLEGE FELLOWSHIPS The rank of 'Honorary Fellow' of King's College London was first established February 19th 1847 The name was later changed to 'Fellow' and the King's College London Act 1882 incorporated all Fellows of the College as members of the Corporation Under the King's College London Transfer Act 1908 and the Statutes framed thereunder the Council was empowered to elect Fellows and the Delegacy of University of London King's College was empowered to nominate Fellows for appointment by the Senate of the University In accordance with the provisions of Statute 14 1980 The Council may elect each year not more than seven persons to be Fellows of the College Those eligible to be elected as Fellows shall be- the Principal members of the staff of the College persons who have in the opinion of the Council served the College in conspicuous manner former students or members of the staff of the College who have in the opinion of the Council become eminent in academic or public life Any Fellow may resign his Fellowship by informing the Secretary of the College in writing of his resignation 197
