I02 Faculty of Arts Undergraduate Courses ADMISSION OF STUDENTS Details of the procedure to be followed by students seeking admission to undergraduate courses are given on page 73 Applicants are admitted by the Sub-Dean of the Faculty on behalf of the Dean of the Faculty and as advised by Heads of Departments or their representatives Full conditions of entry to main and subsidiary courses are set out in the General Prospectus of Undergraduate Courses available from the Registrar DEGREE COURSES DEGREE This may be taken in any one of the following branches Classics Classics and Ancient History Classics and Classical Archaeology English French Geography German Greek with Latin History Latin and Classical Archaeology Latin with Greek Modern Greek Modern Iberian and Latin American Regional Studies Philosophy Portuguese and Brazilian Studies Religious Studies Spanish In the cases of French German Portuguese and Brazilian Studies and Spanish the candidate will also be required to take subsidiary subject The course extends over three years of full-time study in College except in the case of Modern Greek Portuguese and courses including Archaeology which extend over four Students reading for the degree in French or German are required to spend their third year abroad returning to College for the final year They are accepted only on this condition except in the Department of German where students with certain entrance qualifi- cations may be required to spend four years of study in London Students reading for Spanish are required under arrangements approved and supervised by the Department to spend period of study abroad normally summer term together with six weeks of the corresponding long vacation Those reading for Portuguese and Brazilian Studies are normally required to spend minimum of
