General Information students from any department may consult collection of nearly 70 000 maps over 200 atlases 1500 air photographs and number of books and periodicals on cartography and allied subjects In scope the topographic map collection covers the whole world the intensity of detail falling with distance from the College Geo- logical and other thematic cover follows similar distribution pattern The collection is maintained as reference collection and loans are not normally allowed although there are number of multiple copy sets for teaching and field-work Kings College Union of Students 1982-83 Patron The Principal of King's College Hon Treasurer Patterson Secretary of King's College Hon Asst Treasurer To be appointed The elected officers are the President the Vice-Presidents the Union Secretary the Union Treasurer the Sports Officer the External Affairs Officer the Entertainments Officer the Publicity Officer the Societies Officer the Student Services Officer the Officer The President Treasurer and Social Secretary may by arrangement be granted year's release from study All officers are elected during the Easter term and except for the Sabbatical Officers serve from the beginning of the Easter vacation until the end of the next Lent term The Sabbatical Officers serve from June to June The Honorary Treasurer and Assistant Treasurer who are also Union officers are always members of the academic staff The objects of the Union of Students are to promote social activities among its members to support student clubs and societies to provide means of recreation and to further the interests of students generally Every registered student of the College is member and is entitled to membership of all College clubs and societies the use of the athletic ground and pavilion and the right to vote at all general meetings and elections Membership of the College Union is also open to members of the academic staff General control of the students' Clubs and Societies is vested in the Union Their constitutions must be approved by the Executive Committee and finally by the Principal The affairs of the Union are governed by an Executive Committee
