128 Faculties and Courses of Study tions have been made in the time spent on the traditional subjects of Anatomy Biochemistry Physiology and Pharmacology At the same time new subject areas have been introduced namely Biometry and Medical Statistics Genetics Psychology and Sociology An intro- ductory course in Pathology has also been introduced leading to separate course examination In restructuring the course in Basic Medical Sciences and Pharma- cology the major emphasis has been given to an endeavour to produce the maximum integration of teaching between disciplines School- based University examinations are held at the end of the third and sixth terms Stage and Stage II respectively In-course assessment however plays significant part in determining student competence After completing the Stage II examinations successful candidates proceed to their clinical training at one of the following hospital medical schools King's College Hospital Medical School Denmark Hill London SE5 8RX Westminster Medical School Horseferry Road London SW1 SECOND COURSE The course of study for the Second Examination for the degree of Bachelor of Dental Surgery extends over four terms At the end of the first Session the Second Examination Part consists of separate papers in Anatomy Biochemistry and Physiology Clinical studies at the hospital commence in the fourth term and the Second Examination Part Î’ in Special Dental Anatomy is taken at the end of this term Students successful at the Examination held after three terms proceed for their clinical training to King's College Hospital Dental School Denmark Hill London SE5 Unsuccessful students in the Part Examinations are allowed second attempt before the beginning of the fourth term If they fail at this time they are required to withdraw from the course
