86 General Information Refectories These are situated in the Macadam Building and are available to staff and student members of the College They normally provide light refreshments luncheons and teas from 30 to 45 on week- days in term time There is some curtailment of the service during vacations General Welfare and Counselling Dean of Students Helen Hudson doc d'univ The office of the Dean of Students Room 11BB Main Building exists to help students in any way that might be needed Problems of any kind whether they be personal or relating to practical matters may be discussed in the assurance of confidentiality Where counselling is involved the aim is not so much to hand out ready-made solutions or advice as to help people to gain insight and to find the solutions appropriate for them The Chaplain Room 6B Main Building is also available for coun- selling Student Health The Medical Centre on the third floor of the Macadam Building is open from 30 until 00 during the term and for certain parts of the holidays The Centre is staffed by Dr Terry and Sister Russell Dr Matthew Forster psychotherapist attends for one day each week during term time Comprehensive medical services are available to all members of the College When students begin their courses at King's they should make their own arrangements with doctor in the area where they are living and with whom they should register under the National Health Service Students living in lodgings or Halls of Residence should register on temporary basis and those living at home should register permanently Students living in King's College Hall Champion Hill are registered with Dr Terry and all students living within three miles of Dr Terry's surgery in Dulwich may register with him This is to ensure adequate emergency coverage in the evenings and weekends Similarly students who commence treatment at the Centre must be able to obtain long- term advice from their own doctors Details of doctors in the National Health Service are available at Post Offices It is important that all students who feel that either counselling or treatment for physical illness is necessary should contact the Centre at the earliest possible opportunity
