Charier and Statutes 173 nothing in this paragraph shall prevent the variation or replacement of the constitution of the students' union society of the College under these Statutes or the reduction or termination of the term of office of any person who continues as an officer under this paragraph by any such variation or replacement as aforesaid persons who continue as officers under this paragraph shall be governed in respect of their functions by the constitution of the students' union society of the College and any variations thereto or replacement thereof All the existing Regulations made by the Council of King's College and the Delegacy of University of London King's College shall remain in force except in so far as they conflict with the Charter and these Statutes until they are amended superseded or withdrawn by Regulations made by the Council References in existing Regulations to the Delegacy of University of London King's College and the Council of King's College London shall be construed as references to the Council As soon as possible after the Appointed Day elections shall be held and nominations made to enable members to be appointed to the Council and the Academic Board in accordance with these Statutes Notwithstanding the periods of office specified in these Statutes the Council and the Academic Board may respectively prescribe initial terms of office of members less than the terms of office specified for each category of members so that satisfactory scheme of rotation may be established In this Statute- Appointed Day' means the date of this Our Charter and the Theological Department' means the Department known by that name and administered prior to the Appointed Day by the Corpora- tion of King's College London
