150 Library Facilities The College Library comprises some 420 000 volumes in all subjects taught in the College and is particularly strong in those subjects such as Ecclesiastical History Imperial History Modern Greek Portuguese and Brazilian literature and history Spanish including Latin- American Literature Theology and War Studies for the teaching of which King's College has special responsibility within the Uni- versity The Library is organised in subject libraries corresponding to par- ticular academic disciplines These subject libraries with the exceptions noted below are concentrated in two main Library areas one in the Strand Budding the other the Old Library in the original main building The main catalogues together with bibliographical and other refer- ence works and small coUection of books in extra-curricular subjects are to be found in room 101 of the Strand Building where general enquiries concerning the Library should be made Hours of Opening The Library is open in term from 30 until 45 on Mondays to Fridays and until 12 45 P-m on Saturdays During the Christmas and Easter vacations it is open from 30 until 45 on Mon- days to Fridays and until 12 45 on Saturdays during the long vacation it is open from 30 until 30 on Mondays to Fridays but remains closed on Saturdays The Library is closed on public holidays and at such other times as the College buildings are closed Catalogues The main author catalogue in room 101 of the Strand Building con- tains entries for aU books and periodicals in the College Library usually under the name of the author or the title of the periodical but in the case of the publications of government institutions and learned societies often under the name of the issuing body Additional entries are usually given for the names of joint authors editors and authors of publications issued by government institutions and learned societies The main subject catalogue in room 101 of the Strand Building con- tains entries arranged according to the scheme of classification used in After × only the catalogue hall the Science periodicals room and from Mondays to Thursdays the Laws library remain open
