Faculties and Courses of Study 145 Undergraduate Courses Details of the procedure to be followed by students seeking admission to the and degrees are given on page 73 applicants are admitted by the Dean of the Faculty Full conditions of entry are set out in the General Prospectus of Undergraduate Courses available from the Registrar COURSES AND SUBJECTS OF STUDY The honours course is normally of three years duration All students take basic courses in the first year Subjects of study in the second and third years include Old Testament New Testament Greek Testament Philosophy of Religion Christian Doctrine Liturgical Studies Christian Ethics Church History and the Study of Religions There is wide choice of optional and special subjects within the above fields of study three-year course leads to the degree in Religious Studies for which honours are awarded The syllabus has three main areas the philosophical discussion of the nature and content of religious belief the study of two major world religions selected from the options available iii the study of religious belief and practice using the techniques of the social and psychological sciences There are com- pulsory and optional papers in each of these general areas Texts for the world religions compulsory papers are studied in translation but suitably qualified students may be permitted to commence study of the appropriate original languages The course is non-denominational and non-sectarian in outlook and is concerned to develop the student's capacity to understand the nature of religious belief and practice as they are to be found within living religious traditions in Europe Asia and Africa For further details the Faculty prospectus issued separately should be consulted COMBINED DEGREES Theology can also be studied as part of combined degree see also under Faculty of Arts The following courses are available at King's CoUege honours arc awarded in aU of them
