Faculties and Courses of Study 135 Postgraduate Courses Research facilities are available in all departments of the Faculty Certain courses of postgraduate study are also provided These range from short advanced courses on special topics to studies extending throughout an academic or calendar year For information concerning admission to courses of postgraduate study or research and the conditions under which such studies may qualify for candidature for the degrees of Sc Eng Phd or Ph the appropriate Head of Department should be consulted INDUSTRIAL ELECTRONIC SYSTEMS DESIGN DATA HANDLING AND INSTRUMENTATION course of study extending over period of one calendar year is held jointly with Chelsea College for graduates who have good first degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering Physics Applied Physics or Mathematics Applications from graduates in industry will be considered for part-time study lasting approximately two years The course which includes lectures tutorials laboratory work and computing leads to the degree of Sc in the University of London POWDER TECHNOLOGY course in Powder Technology which covers one calendar year may be followed by students who have taken first degree in Engineering Physics or Chemistry or certain other approved branches of applied science The course leads to the College Postgraduate Diploma in Powder Technology and for approved candidates to the degree of Sc in the University of London Fvdler detads are given in pamphlet issued separately SC IN ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING BY CREDITS This part-time course of study introduced for the first time in 1979 is intended primarily for persons in full-time employment in industry It is run on an inter-collegiate basis by Chelsea College Imperial College King's College Queen Mary College and University College wide range of options is offered and candidates may build up ex- animation credits over period of time to qualify for the award of an SC Full details are available from the Head of the Department of Electronic and Electrical Engineering
