General Information 99 Lillian Penson Hall Warden McDonnell sc econ ph Lillian Penson Hall situated in Talbot Square W2 1TT is Hall of Residence for men and women postgraduate students including married couples without children The Hall includes single and double study-bedrooms and some small flats All rooms have private bathroom telephone extension and central heating Further particulars and fees on application ACCOMMODATION OFFICE Accommodation Officer Miss Barbara Pyle-Howard Students who need advice about accommodation should write to the Accom- modation Officer University of London Accommodation Office Univer- sity of London Union Malet Street London WC1E 7HY An information booklet issued by that office is included in the papers sent to each student when place at College is offered register of all types of accommodation covering most London districts is kept and every effort is made to meet the requirements of each student However owing to the great demand for rooms in London it is not possible to guarantee that the exact type of accommodation desired can be provided Students living in privately rented accommodation cannot expect to find it in central London and must be prepared for journey of up to 45 minutes to College Most of the accommodation available is in family homes but the services offered vary from cooking facilities only to partial board breakfast with evening meal daily full board at the weekend The Accommodation Office is open all the year round and with the exception of the summer period operates mailing list for those who have not been able to find accommodation after the initial interview The Accom- modation Officers are usually available to interview students by appointment between 10 30 and 12 noon from 30 to pm Monday to Friday Present students seeking accommodation for October should apply in person between the middle of May and the end of June after that priority is given to new students for the October session During the summer vacation interviews can be given only to students requiring lodgings immediately The Accommodation Office includes on its register addresses of flats and houses and priority is given to married students Advice can also be given on agents and likely areas for accommodation Except during the summer period mailing list is operated for those who have not been able to find accommodation after the initial interview Students requiring flats should call by appointment not more than four weeks before they are prepared to pay the rent of flat or house This type of accom- modation cannot be provided before the applicant arrives in London nor can details be sent by post outside London list of inexpensive hotels where temporary accommodation can be booked is available on receipt of stamped addressed envelope It is wise for those seeking flats to come in the summer before September October when the Office is extremely busy Students
