Faculties and Courses of Study 151 The Phil degree is awarded by examination on thesis submitted after period of supervised study of not less than two academic years course leading to an Ed degree in Science Education is available at the College intended primarily for graduate Chemistry teachers and graduate Physics teachers in secondary schools science advisors and others intending to undertake research into curriculum renewal and development The course is under the joint supervision of the Faculty of Education and the appropriate department in the Faculty of Science Further details are available on request from the tutor in charge of the course Courses leading to an Urban Education with special reference to the inner-city or an Phil in the field of Urban Education are available at the College Further details from the tutor in charge of the course The Ph degree in Education is awarded on thesis submitted after period of supervised study of not less than two academic years full- time or part-time course of not less than three calendar years Research fields include Philosophy of Education Comparative Education History of Education Sociology of Education Urban Education Educational Psychology Science Education and curricular or interdisciplinary studies Further information on higher degrees in Education is available in the College Postgraduate Prospectus and the Advanced Studies booklet issued by the Central Institute of Education Work for higher degrees is usually taught on an inter-collegiate basis except for the College based Ed in Science Education the Urban Education and some fields of higher study specially developed at King's College Supervision and tuition for most higher degree students registered at King's College will be undertaken by College staff members In- formation on registration and admission to courses is obtainable from the Faculty of Education King's College
