cxvi Annual Report of the Delegacy Merton Adult Education Centre on the theme 'Modern discoveries and the Bible' Dr Knibb was awarded his Ph and served for the second year as Chairman of the Board of Examiners in Theology Dr Norbert Lohfink of Frankfurt visited the University in January 1974 and gave public lecture at King's on 'The short historical narra- tive as political weapon in Ancient Israel' Dr Labuschagne of the Netherlands visited King's in May and gave seminar on Ά profde of the theology of Deuteronomy' Professor Quirk from University College gave seminar in May entitled Ά Middle English poem on Judas' DEPARTMENT OF THE HISTORY AND PHILOSOPHY OF RELIGION Professor Lewis gave paper at the Quinquennial World Con- gress of Philosophy at Varna in Bulgaria and presided during the Con- gress over the Philosophy of Religion section He also gave lecture at the Conference of the International Society for Metaphysics of which he has been made President Professor Lewis also gave the Drew Memorial Lecture on Immortality in London in October and read papers at the Universities of Surrey and Nottingham and the Uni- versity of London Extension Lecture at Southwark Cathedral He took part at the Conference on his own book at the Open University In May 1974 Professor Lewis was the guest of Dartmouth College where his books had been the subject of an advanced seminar He lectured there and at various other universities and visited Emory University for meetings connected with the International Society for Metaphysics Professor Lewis gave presidential lecture for the Philosophical Section of the Guild of Graduates of the University of Wales and he has also been elected Warden of the Guild of Graduates of the Uni- versity of Wales Professor Lewis continues as Editor of Religious Studies and the Editor of the Muirhead Library of Philosophy Professor Lewis was External Examiner at Edinburgh Durham and Wales and various universities abroad In November Professor Parrinder lectured at the University of Sussex and in February at an extra-mural conference at Southwark Cathedral In December he delivered the Teape-Westcott lectures in
