Annual Report of the Delegacy cvii tological Association in Belgium under the auspices of the University of Louvain In November 1973 Dr Richardson visited Czechoslovakia to carry out field work in connection with his research and while there also visited laboratories in Prague and Bratislava In August he attended an International Symposium in Namur on Belgian micropalaeonto- logical limits Dr Hall gave invited lectures during the year at Queen Mary College City of London Polytechnic and Kingston Polytechnic In October 1973 Dr Α Ε Hubbard attended the opening of the United Nations Environmental Secretariat in Nairobi During the year she gave invited lectures at three universities and one Euro- pean on various topics but all related to the relevance of experimental studies in interpreting the dynamics of reef development In December 1973 she attended the British Sedimentologists' Research Group Annual Meeting and gave both paper and demonstration on 'Particle produc- tion in coralliferous sediments' Dr Hubbard was appointed Convenor of the Board of Studies in Geology 'Intercollegiate Co-operation Sub- Committee' for 1974 75 She was re-elected to represent Natural Science on the Professorial Board for 1974 75 awarded Dr Hubbard supplementary grant to undertake refined laboratory investigations at Uppsala University in May Using cinefilm made by herself and Latourrette Dr Hubbard initiated and conducted half-day intercollegiate simulated field trip to tropical carbonate en- vironments this was attended by more than 300 people from the University industry and government service and attracted people from as far away as Bristol In July Mr Potter attended the Seventh Caribbean Geological Conference at Guadeloupe and read paper entitled Type sections of the Caribbean Group' Subsequently he was awarded the Ph degree of the University of Durham Dr Oldham was awarded $1 000 from the University of Maryland as summer research grant this award enabled Dr Oldham to travel to the Shabani area of Rhodesia in September to collect rock samples for age determination work to be carried out on them Dr Rasul attended an International Field Meeting of Ludlow Research Broup at Great Malvern in October 1973 Mr Rowland was appointed Deputy Safety Officer of the College During the year on behalf of UNESCO he visited the
