Annual Report of the Delegacy lxxix The Mobile Recording Unit This year has been one of the busiest and most varied since the Unit first began to operate Use of the Unit within the Department of Education has increased greatly and the library of recordings is extending in several new directions Material produced by the Unit has been used at in-service courses for teachers in various parts of the country and it has also formed central focus for groups of teachers and occasionally their classes as well who have come into College This year the Unit provided the recordings for two whole-day teaching sessions for the entire department during the introductory two weeks before teaching practice and it is hoped to go further with experiments of this kind In its services to the College at large the Unit has again expanded its activities considerably The demand for recordings and playbacks from Channel of the television link continues to grow and it has sometimes been extremely difficult to respond to all requests The Unit contributed to the International Symposium for Pharmacologists held in the Autumn and full-scale recordings were also made for the Departments of Physics Pharmacology and Physiology It played an integral part in two courses arranged by the Committee on Training for Academic Staff the two-day Short Course Problems of Uni- versity Teaching' and the course on 'The Selection Process and Inter- viewing Techniques' For the future it is hoped to adapt some of the equipment to more flexible role so that simple recordings can be made in difficult and otherwise inaccessible places simple studio facility would ease many of the difficulties which at the moment prevent or hinder the College from contributing its own recordings to the Channel net- work For the rest several experiments are in prospect and it is to be hoped that the Unit can continue to supply what is clearly an increasing need FACULTY OF ENGINEERING Number of Students Sc Eng PartI 64 Part II 75 Part III 72 Postgraduate 79
