Annual Report of the Delegacy lv at that time envisaged that he would become the senior officer of that staff He represented the College Library at the spring meeting of the Standing Conference of National and University Libraries and at the general assembly of the Ligue des Bibliotheques Europeennes de Recherche at Strasbourg in June He continued to act as secretary of the SCONUL sub-committee on training and education and to repre- sent that body on the CNAA Librarianship Board He was also nominated by SCONUL to membership of the British Standards Institution sub-committee OC 20 1O concerned with the preparation of documents for publication In February he deputised for the Director of the University Library in addressing the students of the Lough- borough School of Librarianship on the future of the libraries of the University of London The Deputy Librarian represented the College Library at meetings of the Standing Conference of Librarians of the Libraries of the University of London subsequently to become the Advisory Board of Librarians of the ILRCC and of the Standing Conference on Library Materials on Africa Within the College he was appointed to member- ship of the working party on photocopying facilities At its May meeting the Library Committee had much pleasure in offering its congratulations to Dr Hedwig Pollak on her election to fellowship of the College and expressed to her its continuing debt for the work she was still undertaking in the Library as Honorary Keeper of Rare Books the post created for her on her retirement as Assistant Librarian in 1967 Miss Janet Smith london dip lib london joined the staff in January as an Assistant Librarian to fill the vacancy caused by the resignation of Mrs Jennifer Statham and to undertake responsibility for the Classics and Music libraries Mr John Callard's study leave was extended to the end of the session to enable him to complete his work on the catalogue of the early books in the Library of St George's Chapel Windsor Castle Miss Julia Sheppard Archivist in the Liddell Hart Centre for Mili- tary Archives attended the annual conference of the British Records Association in December and that of the Society of Archivists in July Following the acquisition of the Liddell Hart papers Lady Liddell Hart was appointed Honorary Keeper of the Liddell Hart Collection in recognition of the help she would continue to give to scholars wishing to use that collection while it remained at States House
