Annual Report of the Delegacy xiv Faculty of Natural Science Dr Î’ Charlwood Lecturer in Plant Sciences fromJanuary 1st 1974 Dr Sales Lecturer in Zoology Dr Warnes Lecturer in Geography from January 1st 1974 The title of Professor of Biology was conferred on Dr Hall from April 1st 1974 The title of Reader was conferred on Dr Jones and the title of Senior Lecturer was conferred on Dr Richards Administration Mr Thomas Assistant Planning Officer from April 1st 1974 Mr Gilbert Assistant Secretary Co-ordination Mrs Brooks Administrative Assistant in Engineering from August 1st 1974 Mr Wyeth was promoted to the post of Deputy Accountant from August 1st 1974 DEATHS The Delegacy learned with regret during the session of the deaths of the following The Very Reverend Matthews who died on December 4th 1973 at the age of 92 He obtained the as student of King's College London in 1906 and his degree in 1907 He became successively Lecturer in Dogmatic Theology Professor of the Philo- sophy of Religion and in 1918 was appointed Dean of King's College He was Dean of Exeter from 1931 to 1934 when he succeeded Dean Inge at St Pauls where he stayed until his retirement in 1967 He was perhaps the most distinguished of all King's men and throughout his life had retained very close interest in the affairs of the College Professor Sir Francis Knowles Bt Professor of Anatomy from 1967 who died on July 12th 1974 Professor Jones who died on July 17th 1974 at the age of 48 From 1963 to 1973 Professor Jones was Cervantes Professor of Spanish at King's College Emeritus Professor Beales who died on August 20th 1974 at the age of 69 Mr Pattison who held the posts of Lecturer and Senior Lecturer at the College from 1958 to 1968 Professor Coulson who was elected Fellow of King's College London in 1973 He was Professor of Physics from 1947 to 1952
