xlii Annual Report of the Delegacy part in these changes accessible shrewd sympathetic gracious taking an active and sustained interest in all College affairs-in the Common Rooms in the Professorial Board in her students In 1972 to the great satisfaction of her colleagues she was elected Fellow of the College The Delegacy place on record their thanks and appreciation and wish Mrs Wakeford who will be widely missed many years of happy and well-merited retirement Mrs Hamilton Mrs Hamilton graduate of King's joined the staff of the Spanish Department in 1944 and has given thirty years devoted work to the College superb teacher and fine scholar in her own field she will be remembered with affection and gratitude by some ten generations of students many of whom are now themselves senior Hispanists It is however for the quality of her personality with its warmth grace dignity and sincerity that Mrs Hamilton will be most missed from the College community which has owed so much to her presence within it Her election as Fellow in 1973 was recognition of the unique place she has occupied at King's The Delegacy place on record their gratitude for all that Mrs Hamilton has done and their pleasure at seeing her back this session after illness and wish her every happiness in her retirement Miss Barrett Appointed in 1951 as member of the Accountant's staff Miss Barrett leaves King's twenty-three years later with the best wishes of very many friends in King's Her work was concerned chiefly with academic salaries particularly before the advent of com- puterised records and she has usually been one of the first members of the administrative staff to meet new academics Many will remember with gratitude her help and advice always cheerfully given and Miss Barrett in her turn will have long and entertaining memories of explaining taxation forms-and occasionally reliefs-to her academic colleagues The Delegacy in bidding farewell to Miss Barrett wish to place on record their sincere thanks and best wishes for many years of happy retirement Mr Hogwood It is not uncommon for those who come to work at King's to stay considerable time but there are few whose service has equalled let alone exceeded the forty-nine years Mr Hogwood has given to the College Appointed during the Principalship of Sir
