Annual Report of the Council xix The Charter should provide for one Governing Body for the whole College The Charter should make provision for the Chairman of the Governing Body to be person not in the employment of King's College The Principal of King's College should be appointed by the Crown The Charter should reaffirm the intentions of the Founders and Benefactors and provide for the general education of youth in the various branches of Arts and Science and in the doctrines and duties of Christianity as the purpose of the College To the end that the doctrines and duties of Christianity may be more effectively maintained the Charter should provide for Dean of College This College officer should be Clerk in Holy Orders of academic standing with pastoral experience appointed by the Crown and responsible to the Governing Body There should be Chaplain of King's College Academic Considerations All students admitted to the College should be required to possess at least the minimum academic qualifications for university entry Instruction should be given in all the present eight faculties of the College of the standard required by the University of London and students should be prepared for the degrees of the University of London The Charter should enable the College to award its own Associateship-the -to students in any faculty who successfully pursue course of study approved by the Governing Body supple- mentary to their University degree course This College course for the Associateship should be modelled on the present lectures for students in faculties other than the Faculty of Theology For students in the Faculty of Theology condi- tions for the award of the should be examined afresh in the light of changing circumstances The Dean of College would be responsible to the Governing Body for the organisation of the courses and examinations of candidates for the Associateship Internal Arrangements There should be one professorial board in the College
