xiv Annual Report of the Council Faculty of Music Barry Prize Mr Dover 1st Leathes Prize 2nd Leathes Prize Miss Υ Holmes Faculty of Science Barry Prize 1st Leathes Prize 2nd Leathes Prize Miss Leyfield Miss Harris Miss Hamlin FINANCE Income and Expenditure Account The total income for the year amounted to £47 320 which was £1 032 higher than in 1972-73 Expenditure on teaching staff showed saving of £268 and although new salary scales were implemented from October 1973 this saving is entirely due to the retirement of member of academic staff Administrative salaries showed an increase of £896 and this was due to increased scales and similarly retirement allowances increased by £265 due to increased pension payments Departmental expenses amounted to £5 943 which was £146 less than the previous year The total expenditure for the year was £50 541 and the net result showed deficit of £3 221 Corporation General Fund Income was received from the usual sources and after meeting ex- penses the account showed surplus of £10 172 which has been transferred to the General Fund Income and Expenditure Account King's College at St Augustine's College Canterbury The total income amounted to £40 813 which included an amount for £5 348 from special lettings Expenditure was £47 730 and the result for the year's working shows deficit of £6 917 King's College Hostel Total income amounted to £24 184 and included £4 317 from special lettings Expenditure amounted to £30 997 which resulted in deficit on the year's working of £6 813
