156 Faculties and Courses of Study subjects and viva voce examination the five subjects being History of Western Music Twentieth-century Music Analysis and or Musical Techniques Special Subject either Performance and Interpretation Composition an extended Essay or Non-Western Music COMBINED STUDIES COURSES THEOLOGY AND MUSIC The examination for this joint course consists often papers in all five of which are drawn from the Mus degree and five from those for the degree Some papers will be taken at the end of the first year and the remainder at the end of the second and third years Intending candidates ought in the first instance to consult the Deans of the Facul- ties of Theology and Music at King's College before making application through SUBSIDIARY MUSIC COURSE This two-year course with an examination at the end of the second year is open to members of other faculties who are required to take short subsidiary course The examinations will assess candidate's general knowledge of music rather than detailed consideration of any particular aspect of it While the Faculty hopes to be able to accommodate all intending subsidiary candidates it is obliged to point out that conflicts between time-tables may arise CONDITIONS OF ENTRY In order to be qualified for course of study in the Faculty of Music at King's College an applicant must have satisfied the general requirements of the University for the procedure to be followed see General Infor- mation page 79 by means of subjects selected from the approved list of subjects drawn up by the University and set out in the Regulations Relating to University Entrance Requirements Although the Faculty at King's College does not ask for additional course requirements candidates for the Mus course are advised that knowledge of Music to 'A' level and of one or more languages at least to O' level The definition of pass at Ό' level examin- ations taken in or after the summer of 1975 will be as grade Β or will be an advantage At interview all applicants will receive aural
