Annual Report of the Delegacy xci old testament studies The Reverend Professor Ackroyd spent the Michaelmas term 1972 at the University of Toronto He gave various seminars at the University of Toronto and also gave lectures in other universities and theological seminaries in Canada and in the United States He gave paper entitled "What is the book of Haggai at the Mid-West Section of the Society for Biblical Literature in November He also gave paper entitled 'The Chronicler as Exegete' in September 1973 at the Fifth International Congress on Biblical Studies Mr Knibb was appointed chairman of the Board of Staff Examiners in Theology During the course of the year the following seminars have been conducted Williams on Scribal Traditions in Egypt and the Old Testament Haran on the problem of the composition of the Latter Prophets Otzen on Isaiah chapters 24-27 Ill IV PUBLIC LECTURES Michaelmas term 1972 Public lectures during the term were as follows Chemistry 'Carbocations and Electrophilic Reactions' Special University Lecture by Professor Olah Christian Literature "The Magic Mountain" revisited' an in- augural lecture by Professor Simon Palaeography 'Muirchu moccu Machtheni as Latin writer' lecture in Medieval Latin by Professor Ludwig Bieler Physics 'Information storage and the fine structure of the brain' Special University Lecture by Dr Marr Theology Two Special University Lectures 'Monotheistic trends in Indian Theology' by Dr Allchin and 'Christian Humanism' by Professor Galloway lent term 1973 Public lectures during the term were as follows Biology 'Chemical Clues to the course of Evolution' an inaugural lecture in the Chair of Biology by Professor Bell
