lxxvi Annual Report of the Delegacy Austin has been appointed to the Chair of Biology and Headship of the Department During the year Professor Bell gave invited lectures to the Society of Experimental Biology at Swansea to the Botanical and Entomological Societies of Denmark and to the Royal Veterinary and Agricultural University of Copenhagen Professor Bradbeer was appointed to the Editorial Board of the Biochemical Journal and presented paper at the ninth International Congress of Biochemistry in Stockholm He also gave papers at the Sheffield and Reading meetings of the Society of Experimental Biology and an invited lecture at Portsmouth Dr Hall was appointed Secretary-General of the Comite International de Photobiologie He lectured in the Universities of Berlin London Birkbeck College Warwick Stockholm Lund California and Miami and gave papers to International meetings in Barcelona Rio de Janeiro and New Hampshire He lectured at the Research Institutes at Saclay and Ruiel-Malmaison and gave an invited talk for the overseas services Dr Evans attended the ninth International Congress of Biochemistry at Stockholm and the Symposium on Prokaryotic Photosynthetic Organisms at Freiburg The quality of his research has been recognised in his appointment to the Readership in Plant Chem- istry' at University College and while we congratulate Dr Evans on this well merited promotion we regret the loss to King's Dr Cammack gave invited lectures at the New York Academy of Sciences and Temple University Philadelphia and he also presented paper at the ninth International Congress of Biochemistry in Stock- holm He spent period in the laboratories of Ε Du Pont de Nemours Co of Wilmington Delaware carrying out work on ferredoxins Dr Moore was appointed Plant Ecology Correspondent for Nature He concluded mire vegetation surveys in Scotland for the Nature Conservancy and gave invited lectures in the University of Sussex and to the Glasgow meeting of the International Peat Society Dr Keys gave course of lectures on the 'Design of Experi- ments' at Royal Holloway College Mr Benfield was appointed Chief Technician in succession to Mr Rice Mr Moody retired at the end of the session after serving as Head Gardener in the Department for 27 years
