Annual Report of the Delegacy li Geography at the Lanchester Polytechnic Coventry Visiting Examiner at Birkbeck College and External Examiner at Training Colleges of the Institute of Education of London University Miss Coleman continued to direct the Second Land Utilisation Survey of England and Wales good progress being made on the work of interpretation Two new assistants joined the East Africa Rainfall Project and spent some time in Kenya and Tanzania Professor Pugh also visiting East Africa in connection with the Project Dr Rose was appointed Chairman of the New Forest Scientific Committee estab- lished under the joint auspices of the Hampshire Naturalists' Trust and the Nature Conservancy to give advice on scientific conservation matters and was appointed to the conservation working party of the Nature Conservancy to consider New Forest management policy He was also appointed to the Endangered Species working group estab- lished to administer the World Wildlife Fund grant under Nature Conservancy auspices for the support of research on the conservation of endangered British plant and animal species Miss Coleman is Vice- President of Section Ε of the British Association for the Advancement of Science Professor Morgan is member of study groups of the Institute of British Geographers concerned with Rural Geography and with Developing Areas Dr Embleton completed eight years of service as Honorary Editor of the Institute of British Geographers and Dr Brunsden was member of its Publications Sales Committee Dr Embleton was Visiting Associate Professor at the University of Toronto in the summer of 1972 and attended the International Geographical Congress in Montreal followed by participation in an expedition to Devon Island in the Canadian Arctic Dr Brunsden was member of the Publications Committee of the British Geomorphological Research Group was co-editor of their Technical Bulletins and of their series of papers in the Geographical Magazine he was member of the Engin- eering Geology Group of the Geological Society and led their field meeting also acting as co-ordinator for enquiries on matters of motor- way construction in the Road Development area for the Nature Conservancy He was Conference Organiser for the Annual Meeting of the Geographical Association assisted by Dr Morgan Miss Coleman organised and led geographical study tour of Western Canada and the Western attended by 160 British teachers of geography and lasting for one month Dr Rose was invited to the University of Lille to lecture at symposium on heathland ecology and gave many other lectures on ecological subjects and on
