Annual Report of the Delegacy xxxvii raising schemes afoot To date nearly Ā£1 000 has been raised and we warmly congratulate the Lady Vice-President on her efforts in securing this The College has provided new bar in the main building of the College in Room 12B and is open to all members of the College The intention behind this is to provide more pleasant surroundings and somewhere to invite guests It also provides central place in which students and staff may mingle socially This venture seems to be prov- ing successful on all these counts King's goes on and its best traditions are maintained It is certainly unique place with unique and friendly atmosphere that doesn't seem to change We look to the future with excitement and hope for even better things at King's II REPORTS OF DEPARTMENTS FACULTY OF ARTS DEPARTMENT OF BYZANTINE AND MODERN GREEK STUDIES Number of Students Postgraduate Ph Postgraduate Phil Departmental Notes Weekly post-graduate inter-collegiate Seminars on Byzantine History and on Modern Greek History were conducted throughout the year by Professor Nicol and Mr Clogg Approval was obtained from the College and the University to institute new under- graduate course leading to the Degree of in Modern Greek Language and Literature which will come into operation in October 1974 Mr Mackridge was appointed as Lecturer in Modern Greek Language and Literature with effect from October 1973 joint appointment with the School of Slavonic and East European Studies Professor Nicol addressed the Third Medieval Collo- quim at the University of Edinburgh on Church and Society in the First degrees and higher degrees are listed in Appendices and II distinctions and appointments gained by staff and students are listed on pages xxiv-xxvii
