Studentships Scholarships Exhibitions Bursaries and Prizes 221 The Prizes consist of instruments or books to the value of about £5 each Two Prizes will be awarded annually to the full-time students who during the second year of study in Anatomy shall have most distinguished themselves in that subject at the class examinations HARE PRIZE The Prize was founded in 1917 by George Hare in memory of his son Stanley Grant Hare former student of the Medical Science Faculty who fell at the head of his platoon in the charge against the Turks at Gaza April 1917 The Prize consists of books or instruments to the value of £4 The Prize will be awarded annually on the joint recommendation of the Professors of Physiology Biochemistry and Pharmacology to student who has completed the 2nd examination INCHLEY PRIZE IN PHARMACOLOGY This Prize was founded in 1925 by Dr Orlando Inchley Head of the Depart- ment of Pharmacology The Prize consists of books or instruments to the value of £7 The Prize is open to all full-time medical students who within two years of passing the First Examination for Medical Degrees or the Pre-Medical Examination of the Conjoint Board have completed the College course in Pharmacology The Prize will be awarded annually upon the results of the class examination in Pharmacology DR JOHN PICKERING PRIZES IN BIOCHEMISTRY One Prize was founded in 1936 by Drjohn William Pickering Fellow of the College and Honorary Lecturer in Haematology its value was increased by legacy received in 1949 under his will Three prizes will be offered annually two of £10 and one of £5 consisting of books or instruments The prizes will be awarded annually to full-time medical undergraduates who during the first two years of study in Biochemistry have most distinguished themselves in that subject BARBARA WIGLEY MEMORIAL PRIZE This Prize was founded in 1939 by the Rev Wigley and Mrs Wigley in memory of their daughter Barbara student in the Faculty of Medical Science who died on January 27th 1939 at the age of 20 before completing her course for the 2nd Examination
