122 Faculties and Courses of Study Geography pass at Advanced level in Geography and in one prefer- ably two other subjects pass in Mathematics at least at Ordinary level is essential Knowledge of foreign language is an advantage German Two subjects at advanced level will be required of which one will normally be German preference will be given to applicants having third subject at Advanced level Candidates with foreign qualifications are considered Greek passes at Advanced level in Greek and one other subject and pass at Ordinary level in Latin History passes at Advanced level in three subjects preferably including History are normally required in some cases applicants with two subjects are considered pass at least at Ordinary level in foreign language classical or modern is essential and pass in second foreign language at least at Ordinary level is preferred Candidates will be expected to possess good reading knowledge of at least one language other than English Latin passes at Advanced level in Latin and one other subject Mathematics changes in University degree structure make it impossible to accept students for the single honours course at present but suitable candidates will be considered for the Sc degree in Mathe- matics see page 140 and for the Combined Studies Course in Mathe- matics and Philosophy see below Modern Greek two passes at Advanced level preferably in Latin or Classical Greek or modern foreign language Modern Iberian and Latin American Regional Studies MILARS Two passes at Advanced level one of which must be in Spanish Philosophy two passes at Advanced level Portuguese and Brazilian Studies two passes at Advanced level are required preferably in Romance Language and English and it is essential that candidates should have pass in modern foreign language at least at Ordinary level Religious Studies two passes at Advanced level are required There are no special course requirements but candidates must show some pro- ficiency in foreign language approved by the College unless they intend in their final examinations to offer paper involving language under the scheme of Special Subjects They will be expected to translate
